It is indeed an honor and a privilege to be appointed as the president of the Hill Country Clinical Society (HCCS) for the year 2021-2022.

Since the establishment of HCCS in 2010, It was grown under the guidance of fellow presidents to become the leading clinical society in the district of Nuwara Eliya.

It is currently being the apex clinical society of the region which collaborates with other local and national professional organizations to empower medical professionals through various academic programs, regional sessions, collaborative activities, and annual scientific sessions.

Though the previous year was severely affected by COVID pandemic and the economic crisis, the outgoing president and the council were able to maintain the highest standards of the HCCS with numerous academic activities throughout the past two years.

Going with that I and the council will continue fortnight CME lectures which will be accredited by the Sri Lanka Medical Association CPD program, collaborative events with other professional organizations, regional sessions, and the Annual scientific sessions.

Also we the council is planning to conduct regular non-medical activities in this year by marking the society another milestone. Not only that, we will introduce an e certificate to go with the environment-friendly paper-free policy to save trees on the earth.

As a professional organization to support research and publications we will explore the possibility of making the Hill Country Medical Journal an E-Journal which will be published bi-annually from this year onwards.

Finally, It is indeed a great pleasure to welcome all to the upcoming 11th  Annual academic sessions scheduled in January 2023.

I wish all the success of HCCS  to shine not only in the region but also nationally and internationally.
